A brief report on SANTECH MANTRA (2013)

On Wednesday 18 Sept 2013, Sandur Polytechnic organized inter-polytechnic technical competitions meet "SANTECH MANTRA" involving neighbouring polytechnics in Bellary and Davanagere districts.

The program started with invocation, welcome of the guests, invitees and lighting the lamp as a mark of respect to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Sir M Visvesvaraya, one a great Teacher and other an excellent Engineer. It was a combined celebration of Teachers' Day and Engineers' Day.

The Chief Guest of the function was none other than our alumnus Mr. Raghavendra Prasad H M, Scientist Cum Engineer, Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO satellite centre, Bangalore. Mr. T. M. Aleem Ahmed, Principal, Sandur Polytechnic, presided over the function. Mr. S. N. Nararayanswamy, Sr. Lecturer in Mechanical dept., read the key note address about the Santechmantra.

Department-wise events and paper presentations on various current topics were conducted to encourage healthy competitive spirit among students.

The workshop called papers on various topics like: Effect of civil Engineering on environment, its boons & banes, Self Compacting Concrete, Super computers, SAP, VOIP, Optical computing, Interconnected power system, Magneto hydro dynamic method of Power generation, Manufacturing of Steel and CIM.

Practical events involved Auto CAD drawing, Debugging in C programming, Logic design in ALP using Kiel, Power management Techniques and Solid modelling using CATIA.

Apart from Sandur Polytechnic, students from V.V.S. Polytechnic, Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic, Bellary, Sir M V Polytechnic, Hospet, SES Polytechnic, Siruguppa, Govt Polytechnic, S.T.J Polytechnic, Harapanahalli, and Govt Polytechnic Kudligi took part in the competitions and were highly enthusiastic in exhibiting their innate talents.

The Chief Guest Mr. Raghavendra Prasad made the program more meaningful by giving a presentation on "ISRO Overview". He was also reminiscent of the days spent in Sandur Polytechnic. He advised the students to work hard and utilize the facilities in the Polytechnic to the best possible extent to be successful and achieve the goal in life. He expressed that celebration of Engineers' day through tech-fest like Santechmantra was appreciable and apt for the occasion.

A video clip of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, a great Engineer and recipient of the prestigious Bharath Ratna Award, was played on the occasion.

The president of the function Sri T.M. Aleem Ahmed, Principal, Sandur polytechnic addressed the students on importance of ethics and hard work in becoming good Enginneers as well as useful citizens of the country. He also advised the students to be passionate about their work.

The Programme "SAN-TECHMANTRA – 2013" concluded with bhavageete, distribution of prizes, vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.
