The word science comes from the Latin word scientia, which means knowledge. It covers the broad field of knowledge that deals with observed facts and the relationships among those facts. This system uses observation and experimentation to describe and explain natural phenomena. The term science also refers to the organized body of knowledge people have gained using that system. The term applied science refers to scientific research that concentrates on the development of technology.

It is an interdisciplinary section involving subjects like applied science, applied science lab and applied mathematics. These subjects are common and mandatory for all technical courses in the first year. The syllabus of Applied Science theory and practical are designed to ensure that a student gets the basic knowledge to seek the technical efficacy. Applied Mathematics is taught in first two semesters and Applied Science in one semester (first or second) to all the students of technical courses.

To enhance learning ability of the students, effective teaching methods are implemented through the use of modern teaching aids like LCD and overhead projectors.

The department has highly experienced and dedicated faculty members who have been working for the polytechnic since inception.
