A three days workshop on “CNC Machining Simulation using Fanuc System” was conducted in Sandur Polytechnic on 14th , 15th & 16th January 2012. The program was conducted by the college with the prime intension of bridging the gap between Industry and academics. The Industry experts from M/s. Distinct Productivity Solutions were the industry partners for the workshop.
The workshop was organized in such a way that each of the 56 students actively involved in writing the CNC programs on the CNC Virtual Machining Center and Turning Center. 28 hours of intensive input was imparted to the students with the aid of Interactive SSCNC software, Industry videos, Audio Visuals etc. The program gave a real time feel of the machines with the features like chips effect and sound effect of the machines etc.
It was observed that the students could relate the class room leanings with the leanings of the workshop. The concepts of the workshop were used by the students and they could solve the lab problems in a more realistic and practical way.
At the end of the program during the valedictory, all the students, teaching staff and the industry partners had a feel of accomplishment. A certificate of participation was awarded to all the students who successfully participated and imbibed the concepts within themselves by the Principal.
