To commemorate World Environment Day, Sanpoly observed ‘VANA MAHOTSVA’ on 8.7.2016. The “KOTI VRUKSHA ANDOLANA” programme was organized in association with the Dept of forest, south region, Govt. of Karnataka.

The function started with invocation and welcome speech. The chief Guest of the function, Mr. Sridhar, RFO, Sandur, advised and encouraged the students for afforestation, further he appealed to the gathering to be an active member of this project. He expressed extreme joy and thanked the entire institute for enthusiasm and initiatives taken in developing a green campus.

Principal, Mr. T M Aleem Ahmed expressed his views on the occasion and expressed the importance of trees for existence of mankind. He wishes to see the entire campus very green and clean. He requested all the students and staff to involve in plantation of trees and increase the population of trees from 700 to 1000 in 2 to 3 years and also appealed to the staff and students to come forward in voluntarily adopting and nurturing the plants in the campus.

Mr. Thippeswamy of the forest department also spoke on the occasion regarding initiatives taken by the department in protecting the forest. The programme turned out to be very informative and was a good step in bringing awareness among the students regarding protection of forest and a fitting tribute to the environmentalists working for the world environment. At the end of the programme, all the staff and students took oath for the cause and also 100 trees given by the forest department were planted at various places in the campus.
